Falls Creek Footage FAQ
What do you do exactly?
Arriving Tuesday morning with her camera in hand, Karen becomes your in-house videographer for the week. She will shoot, well..."film"... your students activities each day. During dinner and the evening worship service she edits the footage into a 3-5 minute highlight video that is ready to play by the start of cabin devotions.
In addition to a daily video she will also create a recap video for your report-back service on Sunday. This video features the best moments of the week including the more serious, spiritual and Christ-Is-Changing-Lives side of Falls Creek that usually gets overlooked in the typical slide show recap.
How much does it cost?
A general rule of thumb to figure about $10 per student. This estimate is from an average sized youth group of about 60 students. Please call us to discuss a more accurate quote based on the size of your ministry.
Why should I hire you to come do this?
In a world full of constant bombardment by an endless flow of media the church is struggling to keep it's voice as a legitimate player in the media/culture scene. Adding a professional video to the start of your nighttime devotions engages students and lends credibility to your ministry as a whole. Hiring us to do this for you in-house simply takes the stress off of you and the intern you were going to dump it on.
Who is Karen?
Karen is a recent college graduate who enjoys making "highlights" videos of just about everything she's involved in. She started doing Falls Creek videos at the request of her church's youth minister after her freshman year in college. She has been to Falls Creek to do "in-house" edits for youth groups for the past five years.
Karen is very active in her church's media ministry (filming the message each week) and enjoys attending bible study, discussion groups and dinners out with her friends in the College and Career Group at her church.
References for character, responsibility and even plain, "Is she good to work with?" questions are available from two Youth Ministers that she has worked with in the past. Chris Gulley and Rudy Lacy. Please contact via email (kamay86@hotmail.com) for contact info for these two men.
Will all of my students be in the video?
Karen makes ever effort to include every student from your youth group in the video at some point in the week. Youth groups with 70 students and under will see everyone's face on the final DVD. Please know that in groups of 70+ students every effort is made to include everyone in a fun, interesting way, however sometimes it is impossible to catch each student in the space of a 15-20min DVD.
How do my students get the DVD?
We ship the completed DVDs to your church offices within 2-4 weeks of your Falls Creek experience. It is then up to you to distribute them to your students.
Typically we include a copy of the DVD for each student in the initial bid. However, in some cases the church has opted to have the students who are interested order copies individually. This is really dependant on what you would like to do. Call us to discuss the possibilities.
Do I need to include Karen in my list of sponsors for registration?
Yes. Karen will be a sponsor from your church with the responsibility of creating your daily video. She will need a wristband, a vehicle tag, and a place to sleep in your cabin. However, please do not assign her any extra cabin responsibilities (KP, small group, etc). Although she is a team player, it can sometimes be difficult and even a little stressful to complete each night's video on time without any added student responsibilities.
